Open Meeting

Session Abstract:
The Polar AI Group and the constituent AI in the Arctic Working Group is a recently formed organization focused on convening researchers and folks from industry and government around the world who are working at the intersection of polar science (especially the Arctic) and machine learning. It is important to have a coordinated group to ensure that work is not being unnecessarily duplicated and to foster interdisciplinary and intercontinental collaboration.
This community meeting, which is open to all interested attendees, represents the debut of Polar AI at an ASSW. It will serve as an introduction to interested folks that are not aware of it already and there will subsequently be a few invited talks on AI-related topics in polar sciences. There will be opportunities to join as members of topic-specific (i.e. AI for sea ice) and geography-specific (i.e. AI in Greenland) working groups for attendees that wish to continue engagement with the group after the meeting.
We look forward to growing the community and advancing research and development at this exciting nexus.
