Event Description:
Urban sustainability in Action: Multidisciplinary Approach through Jointly Organized Research Schools (URSA MJOR) is a Norwegian-based project focusing on creating a holistic socio-environmental program for 'smart cities'. The project aims to improve environmental education of civil engineers, ecologists, urban architects, managers and administrators - all those who are future stakeholders of sustainable and resilient smart cities. There are two location focuses of the project - one of those being the Arctic. Project partners are from a number of institutions inside and outside of the Arctic, including universities, research institutes, non-profits and private companies.
Through research schools, workshops and digital events, students have the opportunity to learn about urban sustainability holistically, including digital technologies, remote sensing, sociology and health aspects. As the project is now over half way through, the project members, plus invited experts and speakers, will meet to discuss the project results thus far and plan for the remaining project time. Ideally, the meeting will be open to any ASSW attendee who wishes to also present their research and projects, so that a discussion with the broader Arctic audience is possible.
