Open Session - HYBRID
Room: Salisbury (JMCC)
Organiser: Kelli Park (University of Southern Maine, United States)
Event Description:
It is essential to develop an understanding of climate change adaptation and transformation that centres decolonization and the Indigenous conceptualization of relationality in working with communities to develop and implement community-based practices for sustainability and resilience in response to anthropogenically-induced climate change and colonisation. In order to work toward this vision for the future, it becomes necessary to co-create new ways of approaching and navigating the complexities of our rapidly changing world, specifically in Arctic communities. We will take a deeper look at the application of these concepts and approaches within the framework of community education and sustainable tourism efforts while centering relationality and decolonization.
