Open Session - ON SITE ONLY
Room: Nelson (St Leonards)
Organiser: Olaf Kuhlke (Minneapolis College of Art and Design, United States)
Event Description:
In this workshop, we will show the results of field research conducted in the summer of 2023 in Nome, Point Lay and Circle, Alaska, documenting the impact of permafrost thaw on infrastructure in these communities. Specifically, we will focus on the 2-D and 3-D airborne and on-the-ground visualisation technology we used to both create imagery as well as measurements of the impact of permafrost thaw on critical infrastructure. Our intent is to illustrate the accuracy and challenges of existing visualisation technology used to generate the imagery as well as its integration into an interactive, searchable online platform using CESIUM open-source geospatial software. Participants in the workshop will also be able to see a demonstration of 3-D, 360-degree and 180-degree VR platforms.
