Registration for the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2023 is now open and an "Early Bird" discount is available until 9 January 2023. Discounted registration is also available for Indigenous participants and Early Career Scientists. Please follow this link to register.
ASSW 2023 will be held in Vienna, Austria, from 17 - 24 February 2023 and is organised in a hybrid format, providing opportunities for both in-person and online participation. Two main blocks form the program for ASSW 2023:
- ASSW 2023 Business & Community Meetings (17-24 February 2023) include annual meetings, workshops and other events of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and several other Arctic organisations and projects.
- ASSW 2023 Science Symposium: The Arctic in the Anthropocene (21 - 24 February 2023): Never before has the Arctic experienced such a high pressure by human impact either by local environmental disturbances or by global climate change leading to long-term changes and massive challenges to the resistance and resilience of polar ecological systems and Arctic societies. “The Arctic in the Anthropocene” is a quite appropriate theme to focus on the increasing pressure of high latitudes. The 44 sessions offer space to shed light on short- and long-term changes, respectively, on human, terrestrial, aquatic or aerial systems. Despite the focus on the Arctic, contribution on the Antarctic, aiming at fostering networking and advances on research on both poles, are accepted and appreciated.
We would like also to remind you that the IASC is offering travel and registration fee support for ASSW 2023 for Indigenous participants and early career researchers. The application deadline is on 7 December 2022 at 13:00 GMT, but we will accept late applications as long as funding is still available. More information is available here.
