ISAR places value on diversity, equity, and inclusion in Arctic science, and welcomes your participation. ISAR-9 will be held under the theme of ‘Expanding and Connecting Arctic Research Diversity’. Core scientific programs in ISAR-9 consist of Plenary, Regular, and Special sessions.

Call for Special Sessions of The Ninth International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-9)

ISAR-9 - Expanding and Connecting Arctic Research Diversity

ASSW2027 will include the Science Symposium, the Ninth International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-9) (April 16-20, 2027). ISAR places value on diversity, equity, and inclusion in Arctic science, and welcomes your participation. ISAR-9 will be held under the theme of ‘Expanding and Connecting Arctic Research Diversity’. Core scientific programs in ISAR-9 consist of Plenary, Regular, and Special sessions. We call for Special-session proposals from Arctic research communities.

Call for Special Session Proposals

Special-session proposals are now solicited. Sessions with interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary themes, as well as those focusing on specific topics, are encouraged. Please submit the form below. The proposers of the session are expected to serve as conveners, who determine acceptance of individual abstracts (accept/reject), the format of presentations (oral/poster), orders, and the length of each oral presentation. Conveners should be composed of two to five members and are also responsible for facilitating the presentations on-site during the session. On-site participation is required for at least two conveners.

Notes

The acceptance or rejection of Special Session proposals will be decided by the ISAR-9 Program Working Group and the Scientific Steering Group (SSG), and proposers will be notified of the outcome by late August 2026. The proposed sessions may be rearranged by the ISAR-9 Program WG and SSG to avoid redundancies or fill gaps, in which case the proposers are contacted by the organizing committee.

An oral session is made of one or multiple 90-minute slot(s); a minimum of 5 speakers is required for each session. The number of allocated slots for each oral session will be determined based on the number of submitted abstracts and the availability of rooms.
