Event Description:

During the last International Polar Year the amazing Polar Resource Book (PRB) was developed, including very useful information about all aspects of Polar Research and related topics, wonderful ideas for classroom activities as well as a comprehensive overview of interesting education and outreach projects. Science is moving forward, and new knowledge gained must find its way into our classrooms, polar museums and community learning hubs in order to reach the next generation of learners. Many innovative tools are now available for polar education and outreach. Learn more at the PEI Open Meeting on Saturday 23 March at 15:00 GMT. Now this excellent Resource Book is in need of an update. PEI, together with IASC, APECS and SCAR, and many other organisations, are starting a new online version of the PRB that will serve as the main resource for polar educators and scientists in the future. It should be the urgent wish of the entire polar community to get this product in place to ensure polar research reaches the next generation. However, whether or not this vital resource can be implemented is dependent on the available funding. We propose to start a collaborative funding competition at ASSW24 to raise enough money to present the project at ICARP IV in 2025.This important workshop brings together everybody interested and with good ideas to participate in co-creating a competition and together build strategy on how to raise enough money. We are convinced we will reach this ambitious goal with your help!
