Convergence research engages with vexing and complex research challenges that are pivotal for addressing societal needs. Convergence research is a major focus for the NSF Navigating the New Arctic (NNA) program and the NNA Community Office (NNA-CO). This session is a time for Convergence Working Group co-leads and members to convene and discuss planned activities and products that support Arctic research and enhance NNA broader impacts.
A key element of convergent work is bringing together a mix of perspectives so that deep connections are formed across disciplines and knowledge systems. The Convergence Working Groups (CWGs) bring together diverse Arctic experts and perspectives to work together on newly formed and shared goals. The NNA-CO supports three CWGs: Infrastructure Futures, Arctic Observing Systems & Technology, and Fostering Indigenous-Led Research. Each group is co-led by a small group of Experienced Co-Lead(s) and Early Career Fellows, with a larger Fostering Indigenous-Led Research group reflecting high community interest in the topic.
