21 - 26 March 2024
Room: Cowan (St. Leonards)
This group exhibition of painting, craft, and music brings together recent engagements by Scottish artists with living northern landscapes and seascapes. These works are united on one level by the North Atlantic Inflow which carries heat, plankton, and perhaps ideas and cultural pressures from northern Europe past Svalbard and beyond.
They are also united by the artists’ interests in unfamiliar wildlife, creative translations of scientific data, and—in grand Arctic tradition—light. Contributions include music and multimedia by composers Michael Begg and Emily Doolittle, crochet epibenthic communities also by Emily, origami plankton by Neil Banas, oil paintings by Michelle Campbell and Laura Johnson, and field sketchbooks by Georgia Rose Murray.
