Session Description:
The Synoptic Arctic Survey (SAS) is a grassroots, researcher-driven international effort of collection of pan-Arctic empirical data that first took place in 2020-2022. More than 25 cruises from 11 nations participated in collecting data sets pertaining to hydrographic and ecosystem changes occurring in the Arctic Ocean. SAS is intended to be a decadal effort of international scientific collaboration, closely documenting the transitioning Arctic system through sustained observations, and providing the often-missing pan-Arctic perspective. In this meeting, Early Career Researchers (ECRs) will discuss plans toward SAS II, a second phase of sampling intended to take place ~2030. This meeting invites current SAS ECR members as well as any ECR interested in contributing to SAS II.
