Open Session - HYBRID
Room: Mogens Zielerstuen
Organiser: Vera Kuklina
Session Description:
Indigenous scholars will lead this meeting and invite experts from diverse ways of knowing, including scholars, traditional knowledge holders, and artists, to share their perspectives on long-term Arctic observations in culturally appropriate ways. During the last years, we have seen an increase in knowledge co-production and collaboration between scientists and communities to observe and monitor environmental changes in the Arctic. The next step in improving these collaborations is to share this knowledge with a broader audience, stakeholders, decision-makers, communities, youth, etc. to increase capacities and the variety of knowledge-sharing forms. It also means expanding the variety of ways in which Arctic observations are gathered, documented, analyzed, and shared to empower communities and tell stories that are the most relevant for their cultures, needs, and concerns. In particular, we draw attention to visual, sonic, and experiential changes that are better captured and translated by using the arts, photography, filmmaking etc. We invite participants to explore and engage in diverse ways of communication, such as storytelling, yarning, performing, exhibiting photos and artworks, singing, etc. to co-create and share knowledge on Arctic change across countries, cultures, generations, disciplines, and ways of knowing.
