The International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of travel and registration fee awards for early career researchers to attend the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2026 (including the Arctic Observing Summit 2026) (25 March – 1 April 2026, Aarhus, Denmark).
Eligible to apply are early career researchers up to 5 years past their final degree (e.g. PhD) with an Arctic research focus (an allowance will be made for career breaks such as parental leave) who are based at and affiliated with institutions in an IASC member country.
Applicants must also fulfill one of the following two criteria:
- Accepted for an oral presentation at the ASSW 2026 Science Day. Poster presenters who submitted their abstracts by the abstract submission deadline of 14 November may also apply, but preference will be given to applications from oral presenters. Applications from those submitting poster abstracts after the above abstract submission deadline will not be considered.
- Chair / co-chair of one of the accepted ASSW 2026 sessions listed in the ASSW 2026 programme (including the Arctic Observing Summit 2026)
We will not consider applicants who do not meet one of the above criteria.
Applicants who are planning to attend:
- Online only: may apply for an online registration fee waiver
- On-site in Aarhus: may apply for IASC support to partially cover their:
- Travel costs from their home to and from Aarhus
- Accommodation costs in Aarhus (maximum 130 Euros per night)
- Registration Fee (early bird reduced fee)
The available maximum funding levels are the following:

The application deadline is on 5 January 2026 at 23:59 GMT (Icelandic time) using the application form below. Late applicants will not be considered.

Successful recipients will be informed before 19 January 2026.
Applicants not selected for funding will remain on a waiting list for funding until 2 February 2026 and will be informed if funding opens up. We will only contact waitlisted applicants if funding is available for them. If applicants have not been contacted by 2 February, their application has been rejected.
