The Indigenous Pavilion Film Festival will kick off on on the evening of Monday, March 24 with a featured film screening of "One with the Whale".
Hunting whales is a matter of life or death for the residents of St. Lawrence, a tiny island in the Bering Sea. The film is a heartwarming story of one family’s struggle to rebuild their shattered identities and find a way to live with Ancient Indigenous values in the fast-paced, cruel modern world. The film (1 hour 18 minutes) will be followed by:
- Panel discussion with Yaari Walker (producer), Nalu Apasengaq (actress & storyteller), and Chase Apasengaq (actor, hunter, & stroyteller).
- Light reception, including some delicious Native American foods
