Session Description:

This workshop explores intersectionally gender responsible methodological development in Arctic research through the lens of community-based participatory research (CBPR), as practiced in the ArcSolution project. CBPR emphasizes collaboration between scientists and local communities, involving public members, local experts, and stakeholders in all stages of research—from planning and implementation to ownership and dissemination. This inclusive approach has been central to ArcSolution project since its inception, ensuring that research is both locally relevant and scientifically robust. Citizen science (CS), integrated within the CBPR framework, plays a key role in gender responsible knowledge production on central issues of the ArcSolution project that is impact of pollution, and plastics to One Health – interconnected human, animal, and environmental health. The workshop invites contributions that critically reflect on CBPR and CS methodologies from gender perspective, share practical experiences, and discuss challenges and opportunities in co-producing gender responsible knowledge. We welcome contributions with interdisciplinary perspectives that advance ethical, equitable, and impactful research practices in Arctic contexts, fostering stronger connections between science, communities, and decision-making.
