Session Description:
This workshop invites scholars, practitioners, and community members to engage in a multidisciplinary dialogue on fostering peacefulness in the Arctic region. As geopolitical, environmental, and social transformations intensify, cultivating capabilities for peace becomes increasingly urgent. The Arctic’s unique cultural, ecological, and political landscapes call for inclusive approaches that recognize diverse knowledge systems and lived experiences. In this workshop, presenters are expected to explore the theme of cultivating capabilities for peace in the Arctic e.g. from gender, intersectional, over generational and more-than-human perspectives. Contributions may address topics such as Indigenous sovereignty, climate justice, migration, education, and sustainable development. By bridging disciplines and perspectives, the workshop aims to generate collaborative insights and practical strategies for nurturing peaceful futures in the Arctic. We especially welcome proposals that highlight community-based initiatives, critical theoretical frameworks, and innovative methodologies that support resilience, equity, care and peace in Arctic contexts.
