The Indigenous Pavilion at ASSW 2025, during the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV), will weave together immersive, place-based, and community-centered learning—with a focus on Indigenous Knowledge and creativity. The Indigenous Pavilion is driven by respect, curiosity, passion, and a deep connection to the world around us. It involves creating, preserving, and sharing knowledge while embracing multiple ways of thinking and doing. The Indigenous Pavilion will highlight Indigenous-centered research, prioritizing slow, intentional collaboration and valuing research that builds reciprocal relationships with communities over time. Through service, sharing, and collaboration, the Indigenous Pavilion will be a place to hold meaningful conversations that connect students, knowledge holders, researchers, and communities in shared learning and discovery.
The Indigenous Pavillion will include:
- A gathering place for community, dialogue, cultural exchange, and shared wisdom. Two large heated tents assembled alongside the ASSW/ICARP IV meeting venue at the University Memorial Center (UMC) will serve as this in-person meeting space.
- Indigenous-centered sessions that honor Indigenous research, collaboration, and storytelling. Multiple sessions from across the ICARP IV program will be highlighted as part of the Indigenous Pavillion.
- Art exhibits to showcase Arctic creativity and cultural narratives.
- Film Festival to illuminate Arctic perspectives.
More information about the Indigenous Pavillion will be posted soon.
